Warrant issued for man accused in Vancouver taxi driver killing

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a man charged with killing a taxi driver, after police say the accused fled his halfway house.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding a 26-year-old man accused of killing a taxi driver in Vancouver three years ago.

Jordan Conway was released to a halfway house in Abbotsford on July 7, only to take off days later, the Vancouver Police Department said Tuesday.

“He left without notice sometime during the night between July 12 and July 13,” police said in a news release.

Multiple B.C.-wide warrants were issued for his arrest, and they were expanded Canada-wide earlier this month.

The VPD urged anyone who sees Conway to call 911 immediately.

The young man was charged with manslaughter last year in connection with the deadly August 2022 assault on taxi driver Aden Hersi.

Authorities previously said Hersi was attacked after driving a passenger to East Vancouver. He later died in hospital.

“In addition to the manslaughter charge, Conway faces outstanding warrants for assault and three counts of breaching his release conditions—all related to this investigation,” the VPD said.

The assault charge stems from another attack on a bystander who tried to help Hersi, according to police.
