Victoria police investigating after another pedestrian struck, seriously injured

Police in Victoria are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Friday.

Officers responded to the intersection of Chatham and Douglas streets shortly after 11:30 a.m.

The victim was transported to hospital with what police described in a statement as serious injuries.

The intersection was closed to traffic for several hours as investigators gathered evidence. Police asked motorists to avoid the area and expect delays while collision analysts were on scene.

A spokesperson for the Victoria Police Department said the pedestrian’s condition was unknown late Friday afternoon as road closures were expected to remain in effect into evening.

The crash occurred as Victoria police were already investigating a suspected hit-and-run collision that sent a pedestrian to hospital earlier this week.

Investigators say a woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Quadra Street on Wednesday.

“The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival,” VicPD said in a statement.
