Police in Vancouver are renewing their appeal for information about a man who was shot and killed in the city’s Strathcona neighbourhood in September. Norman Labonte, 48, was found suffering a gunshot wound at the intersection of Main and Union streets just after 7 a.m. Sept. 30. He was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. In a new appeal issued Saturday morning, Const. Tania Visintin of the Vancouver Police Department said there were people walking and driving in the area at the time of the shooting who “may have seen or heard something important.” Even the “smallest piece of information” could help detectives with the investigation, she said in the statement. No charges have yet been laid. “Investigators believe there may be witnesses who have not yet spoken with police,” said police. In an initial appeal released the day of the incident, the VPD said it was unknown if the victim or the suspect knew one another.
