Suspect arrested after knifepoint robbery in North Vancouver

Police in North Vancouver are asking witnesses to come forward after a man was allegedly robbed at knifepoint in broad daylight earlier this week.

The victim told investigators he was approached by a male suspect at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Marine Drive and Fell Avenue.

The suspect produced a knife and threatened the man, demanding his phone. The victim complied and the suspect fled the area on foot.

A statement from the North Vancouver RCMP says the victim was not injured in the altercation.

Officers responded to the scene and located a suspect, who was taken into custody and is facing robbery charges, according to the police statement.

“This was a frightening incident for the victim, and we are thankful that he was not hurt,” Cpl. Mansoor Sahak said in the statement.

Sahak said there may be another victim linked to the suspect who has not yet spoken with investigators. “We are asking that person to come forward and provide a statement,” he said.

Authorities are also asking anyone with dash-camera video from the area Wednesday afternoon to contact the RCMP.
