Second man facing several charges, including attempted murder, following shooting in Surrey, B.C.

A second man has been charged in relation to a shooting that left two seriously injured in Surrey, B.C., in December.

According to a statement from the Surrey Police Service, officers were deployed to the 12600 block of 67B Avenue, in the city’s Newton neighbourhood, Dec. 16 amid a call from a woman claiming she and her husband had been shot while outside.

Both victims were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Yuvraj Singh, 22, has been charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent to wound, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Singh was arrested April 22 in Montée Glass, Quebec, following a search by officers from the Quebec RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement team, said police in the statement.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance, set for May 15.

It follows the arrest of 21-year-old Squamish resident Gagandeep Singh Bakshi, who was taken into custody Jan. 15 and charged the following day with numerous offences relating to the shooting.

The RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit’s Serious Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation into the incident and asking anyone who may have relevant information regarding it to contact the Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 24-179884.
