Identifying suspect in random stabbing spree is ‘highest priority’ for Vancouver police

CCTV video released by the Vancouver Police Department shows a woman alleged to have randomly stabbed at least four people on the seawall in Yaletown

Vancouver police have released photos and video of a woman they say is the suspect in a random, unprovoked series of daylight stabbings and assaults.

In an update Sunday, the Vancouver Police Department said identifying and arresting the woman is the “highest priority” for investigators.

“These assaults were violent and unprovoked, and as long as this suspect remains at large we fear the community is at risk,” spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison said, in a statement.

Police were called to the seawall near David Lam Park around 7:30 a.m. on Friday for reports that several people had been stabbed and located three people with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the VPD.

Four more people have since contacted police to report being assaulted in the apparent spree “including another stabbing victim, a person who was physically assaulted, and two others who were not physically injured,” police said.

Five of the victims are men and two are women, and their ages range from 23 to 59 years old, the update from VPD said.
