“Unapologetically Queer” was the theme for the 48th annual Vancouver Pride Parade, which saw floats, furries, and costumes, as well as crowds of joyful spectators. The festivities travelled along Pacific Street, from B.C. Place to Howe Street at the north end of the Burrard Street Bridge. Road closures meant the downtown core was jam-packed, requiring a bit of patience for those navigating around the parade route. The parade is followed by the Davie Village Pride Festival, wrapping up a week of Pride events and community gatherings. The festival on Sunday ran from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Davie Street between Burrard Street and Jervis Street, featuring live music, roaming performers, community vendors and interactive experiences. Road closures are in effect on Davie Street between Burrard and Jervis streets, and on Comox Street from Thurlow Street to Bute Street until midnight. Nelson Park also has traffic restrictions for additional festival zones.
