Port Moody man charged with murder, indignity to human remains in case of missing woman

A 31-year-old Port Moody man has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in connection to the disappearance of Chantelle Moore.

Trenton Henneberg was arrested on the charges Friday, according to a news release from the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

He remains in custody, police said, adding that they believe Henneberg and Moore knew each other, and her death was not a random incident.

Family members reported the 30-year-old Moore missing on Nov. 18, 2024, “after not hearing from her for an extended period of time,” IHIT said in its release.

“As a result of a robust investigation led by the Surrey RCMP and Langley RCMP, investigators determined that Ms. Moore was last seen at a hotel in Langley and that no one had heard from her since late October,” the release reads.

In December 2024, IHIT took over the investigation, informing the public that they had received information suggesting the woman’s disappearance was suspicious.

With the help of the Langley RCMP Serious Crime Unit and Integrated Forensic Identification Services, investigators established a timeline of events leading up to Moore’s disappearance, then executed searches “at multiple locations across the province” in an effort to locate her remains.

IHIT did not specify where, when or if Moore’s remains were found, but said investigators were able to meet the charge assessment standard for murder.

“This is the kind of investigation that keeps us up at night,” said Sgt. Freda Fong, in the release.

“I am so proud of the unwavering dedication and tremendous investigative efforts of our team. While the laying of charges is a significant milestone, there is still a lot of work ahead as the prosecution process begins. It has been an extremely difficult time for Chantelle’s parents, and we continue to offer them support throughout the court proceedings.”
