Vancouver woman killed in ‘mysterious’ crash on Coquihalla Hwy.

B.C. Highway Patrol is asking for witnesses to come forward to aid their investigation into a “mysterious collision” on the Coquihalla Highway over the weekend that claimed a young woman’s life.

Police say sometime between 11:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, a white Toyota Yaris went down an embankment in the southbound lanes between the Sowaqua chain-up area and Othello Road.

The driver, a 21-year-old from Vancouver, was taken to hospital and died two days later, Mounties said.

“This crash occurred in broad daylight, but police have not been able to locate a single witness so far,” Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said, in a statement Tuesday. “The driver was never able to tell police what happened. We need witnesses and video to make sure there’s no criminal cause.”
