A man is dead after a shooting in Surrey’s Fleetwood neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon. Officers from the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit were called to the scene on 84 Avenue near 160 Street around 3:45 p.m., the Surrey Police Service said in a news release. The site is across the street from Fleetwood Community Centre. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries, police said. Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, he died at the scene. Images from the scene show heavily armed officers – some of whom appear to be from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team – gathered with paramedics outside a commercial building. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation, Surrey police said, adding that the shooting is their city’s third homicide of 2025. “While the motive is still under investigation, the incident does not appear to be linked to any ongoing investigations,” the SPS said in its release. Police asked anyone with information related to the investigation to contact IHIT by calling its information line at 1-877-551-4448 or emailing ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
