Woman on guided tour falls 30 metres into the water in North Vancouver park

One person was taken to hospital after being rescued from the water in Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a tourist fell off a cliff in North Vancouver’s Lynn Canyon Park on Monday.

First responders were called to the area around 12:30 p.m. after reports a woman, an American in her 50s, fell 30 metres into Lynn Creek.

Firefighters rescued her from the water in a helicopter and she was taken to hospital with what police describe as serious injuries.

Police say the woman was on a guided group tour around the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge and she fell near its north side.

“Police are investigating to gain a better understanding of what happened leading up to the incident,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak, in a statement issued Tuesday.

“We are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the incident or captured it on their phone.”

Witnesses are asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and reference police file number 25-22168.
