Police investigating after gunshots, vehicle fires in Surrey

Police in Surrey are investigating after a series of incidents that saw emergency crews respond to two vehicle fires and a shooting in quick succession Sunday morning.

According to the Surrey Police Service, officers were sent to a vehicle fire in the 125 Street near 102 Avenue around 8:20 a.m. A few minutes later, members of the RCMP responded to reports of shots fired outside a home in on 140A Street near 110 Avenue, roughly a 10-minute drive away.

And about half an hour later, SPS officers responded to another vehicle fire on Regal Drive near Regent Place. Police believe all three incidents were connected.

No one was injured by the gunshots or fires, according to police.

“Officers will be on scene throughout the day to examine the areas for physical and digital evidence. The motive for the shots fired and two vehicle fires remain under investigation and investigators will be liaising with police partners to determine if there are any connections to other files,” the SPS wrote in a statement.

No links have been made to extortion at this time, police said.
