Police investigate reports of shooting in Abbotsford, B.C.

Police say nine people were detained Monday after reports of a shooting in Abbotsford, B.C.

Patrol officers responded to a home in the 33500 block of Cannon Avenue at approximately 8 p.m.

Several occupants of the home, which is known to police, became unco-operative and barricaded themselves inside, Sgt. Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department said.

The heavily armed Emergency Response Team was called and deployed flash-bang devices to remove the occupants from the home.

The incident was resolved shortly after midnight with nine people removed from the property. Police say no one appears to have been injured in the shooting.

“The residence is currently being held by police pending a search warrant, which investigators expect to serve later today,” Walker said in a statement Tuesday.

“No arrests have been made at this time. This investigation remains in its early stages and is not connected to extortion violence in the Lower Mainland.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact police.
