Police in B.C. seek victims, associates of extortion suspect removed from Canada

Police in Surrey, B.C., are releasing a photo of a man who is suspected of involvement in the region’s ongoing crisis of extortion-related violence.

The man, identified as 20-year-old Prabhjot Singh, has already been arrested and removed from Canada, but the Surrey Police Service is seeking more information about him and his associates.

Officers arrested Singh earlier this year and shared information with the Canada Border Services Agency, leading to his removal from the country following an immigration investigation.

Chief Norm Lipinski of the Surrey Police Service says in a statement that the department continues to work with outside agencies “with the shared objective of tackling the interjurisdictional and national components of extortion.”

Surrey police decided to publish a photo of Singh on Monday after deeming it necessary to further their investigation, the department said in a news release.

Investigators are seeking information about Singh’s associates and activities while he was in Canada, and are urging potential witnesses, victims or associates to come forward.

Authorities said tips from the public could help identify others involved in ongoing extortion schemes and broader criminal networks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey police or Crime Stoppers.

A $250,000 Surrey Extortion Reward Fund was established in September 2025 and remains in place to encourage tips leading to charges and convictions.

The release of images in such cases is assessed individually and permitted under provincial privacy legislation when necessary to seek public assistance to further an investigation, police said.
