Mounties execute search warrants in B.C. man’s suspicious disappearance

Major crime investigators on Vancouver Island have executed a pair of search warrants related to the suspicious disappearance of a 30-year-old man two months ago.

Campbell River resident Kolby Sinclair was reported missing to police on March 22, approximately two weeks after he was last believed to have been seen in the community.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit took conduct of the case, and on Tuesday the unit searched a rural property in Black Creek and a property on the We Wai Kay First Nation.

The major crime unit issued an update on the case Tuesday announcing the searches but did not share any findings from their efforts.

“While details are limited at this time, the investigation remains active and police are still asking anyone with information to contact the VIIMCU line at 250-380-6161,” the update said.

“Investigators believe the circumstances around Kolby’s disappearance are suspicious,” Cpl. Alex Bérubé said in an earlier statement on the case.

Police said the initial missing-person investigation was launched after Sinclair “failed to keep in touch with his family, which is out of character for him.”

Sinclair is described as a white man standing 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 194 pounds. Police say he has brown hair and blue eyes.
