Man found dead in Merritt home identified by RCMP

Mounties in Merritt are identifying a man who was found dead in a home last week in an attempt to advance their investigation.

Officers were called to the residence on the 1900 block of Houston Street on Feb. 20, a statement from the Merritt RCMP said.

“Upon arrival, frontline officers located a man deceased on the property. The incident has been determined to be criminal in nature, and the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation,” a spokesperson wrote.

The deceased has been identified as Clive Hack, 63.

Anyone with dash-cam video from around the intersection of Houston Street at Nicola Avenue between 10 a.m. on Feb. 19 and 10 a.m. on Feb. 20 is being asked to contact investigators.

“Our investigators are working diligently to determine what happened,” Sgt. Robert Kee said, in the statement.

“Even information that seems minor could help move this investigation forward.”
