Man charged with arson after 3 fires in East Vancouver

A man is facing three counts of arson after starting three separate blazes in an East Vancouver neighbourhood.

A man was arrested and charged with three counts of arson after allegedly setting three fires in an East Vancouver neighbourhood Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Officers were called to a home near East 1st Avenue and Victoria Drive around 5 p.m., the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.

“Multiple hedges and a fence were set on fire. The owner was able to extinguish the fire before it spread to neighbouring properties,” an email to CTV News said.

“VPD was alerted by Vancouver fire of two other fires that were set in the same area.”

After an investigation, Donald Lee Rowswell was arrested and charged, police confirmed.

He remains in custody Monday.
