Vancouver police say a 45-year-old man has been arrested after a series of stranger assaults downtown on Thursday. In a release issued Friday afternoon, the Vancouver Police Department detailed three unprovoked incidents in which a man punched or spat on people. The VPD said it received multiple reports of “an erratic man approaching pedestrians at random” between 9:50 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. Officers found a man matching the suspect description they were provided and arrested him, the department said. Gregory Edwin Lawrence Brumwell has since been charged with three counts of assault and remains in custody. Brumwell is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14.
