Police have arrested one man and are trying to locate another after a fight that involved a cleaver broke out in New Westminster, B.C., Tuesday afternoon. According to the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD), officers were called to the 700 block of 8th Street around noon amid reports two men were pushing and punching one another. The reports described one of the men as having brandished “an edged weapon,” police said in a statement. Officers arrived at the scene, arrested the man and seized the weapon — shown in a photo released by police to be a medium-sized silver cleaver. Police are still yet to locate the other man involved in the brawl and are calling on the public to assist in the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant video is asked to contact the NWPD at 604-525-5411. “We’d like to speak with the other man involved to understand the full circumstances of what happened,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver in the statement. “If you were part of this altercation or witnessed it, please reach out to investigators.”
