A man who allegedly drove across the Lower Mainland while intoxicated with his children in the vehicle was arrested last week, according to authorities. Police departments from Chilliwack to West Vancouver received complaints about a brown pickup driving erratically driving on the Trans-Canada Highway on the morning of Nov. 2, a statement from Mounties said. The man, a 55-year-old from Kelowna, was arrested for impaired and prohibited driving when he arrived at the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. “The man’s pre-teen boys were in the vehicle with him,” the Kelowna RCMP said in a statement, adding that officers fed the children and contacted child protection services. The B.C. Highway Patrol said the “sad situation” was resolved safely due to the co-operation of multiple police agencies to locate and apprehend the driver. No criminal charges have been laid at this time, police said.
