A former political campaigner with Vancouver’s COPE party has pleaded guilty to a series of sex assaults on four young girls over a 14-year period. Ibata Noric Hexamer, 44, admitted to six charges Friday involving three separate violent sex attacks against girls as young as six years old. Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie said the charges include one count of sexual assault, three counts of sex assault with a weapon and two counts of unlawful confinement relating to three cases that took place in 1995, 2007 and 2009. Seventeen other charges related to the incidents are expected to be stayed, MacKenzie confirmed. In the most recent case, a six-year-old girl was raped at knife point in a wooded area of Surrey as her 12-year-old brother and 15-year-old male friend were forced to kneel nearby. Hexamer also pleaded guilty to assaulting two 14-year-old girls at knifepoint in a wooded area of Delta two years earlier. The earliest case involved the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl near Vancouver’s Lord Nelson Elementary School. The three incidents were linked after the 2009 assault, when police matched DNA evidence from all three crime scenes and asked for the public’s help identifying a suspect from composite sketches. Hexamer was identified as a suspect though DNA testingin Dec. 2010. "The chances that the DNA doesn't belong to him are one in a quadrillion,” Chief Const. Jim Chu saidat the time. Hexamer remains in police custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 9.
