A man police believe suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel died Saturday after crashing into several parked cars in a shopping plaza near the Surrey-Langley border. The Surrey Police Service says it received reports of an eight-vehicle collision near Fraser Highway and 64 Avenue around 11:55 a.m. A car had jumped a curb and struck seven unoccupied vehicles, according to police. Images from the scene show a line of heavily damaged cars and a black Tesla on the grass nearby with a tree fallen over it. Despite life-saving measures from firefighters and paramedics, the 58-year-old driver died, police said. The RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service are probing the incident. “At this early stage, the cause of the collision remains unknown, but it is believed that it is due to a medical emergency suffered by the driver,” reads a statement from the SPS. Police asked anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dash camera video to call the SPS at 604-599-0502 and reference file number 2025-22669.
