B.C. RMT banned from treating female patients amid sexual misconduct allegations

A registered massage therapist in Nanaimo, B,C., has been banned from treating female patients while the professional regulator investigates sexual misconduct allegations.

Robert Paradis is the subject of a public notification by the College of Complimentary Health Professionals dated April 23, 2025. The limits were placed on his practise following a complaint from a patient.

“In relation to this complaint, the Inquiry Committee panel found that there was a prima facie case of the allegations that, during the provision of treatment to the patient, the registrant engaged in sexual misconduct,” the notification from the college said.

“The inquiry committee panel considered the allegations serious and found that there are some factors that render the alleged conduct likely to recur.”

In addition to a prohibition on treating any patient that identifies as female, Paradis has been ordered to inform clients of the limit placed on his practise by posting notifications about the ban online and in any clinic where he works. He will also be required to provide the college with weekly access to his calendar and to comply with random, on-site audits.

“The panel determined that the public must be protected by an interim order during the investigation, pending any disciplinary hearing,” the notification said.

The allegations remain unproven.
