B.C. man wanted Canada-wide may be ‘attempting to travel to Alberta’

Update, April 7: Chilliwack RCMP say Starke has been arrested. They did not specify where the arrest occurred, but thanked the public for helping to locate him.

Police are searching for a man who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, who may be in either British Columbia or Alberta.

A statement Thursday from the Chilliwack RCMP says 65-year-old Rodney Starke is unlawfully at large while serving a long-term supervision order following convictions for aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and various charges related to identity theft.

Starke was last seen on April 1 when he was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. Police have been unable to locate him since, the statement said.

According to the Parole Board of Canada, the 10-year supervision order Starke is serving is the longest post-sentence supervision period available for offenders who demonstrate a high risk of reoffending.

Police say Starke was previously convicted of breaching such an order.

Starke has “no known ties” to the Chilliwack area but may be in either Metro Vancouver or “attempting to travel to Alberta,” the statement said.

“He is believed to have limited financial means and may seek assistance from members of the public to do so,” police added.

Starke is described as a white man standing 6’ tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He is bald with hazel eyes, police said.

Anyone who encounters Starke or who has information on his whereabouts is urged not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
