Another extortion-related shooting under investigation in B.C., this time in Langley

A house in Langley, B.C., was sprayed with bullets overnight while people were inside. Once again, police say extortion was the motive. Ben Nesbit has more.

For the third time in two days, police in a community south of the Fraser River are investigating a shooting that they believe is extortion-related.

This time, the shots were fired in Langley, B.C.

Police responded to the incident on 232 Street near 69 Avenue shortly before 5:20 a.m., Langley RCMP said in a news release later Thursday morning.

Investigators located “evidence consistent with shots having been fired,” but no one was injured in the shooting, police said. They added that they believe the suspects arrived in a “dark-coloured sedan” and fled the area immediately after the shooting.

“Based on initial information, we believe this incident is extortion related,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, in the release.

“Investigators are liaising with partner agencies and working to determine possible linkages to other investigations.”

On Wednesday, it was police in Delta and Surrey dealing with shots fired at homes in suspected extortion-linked incidents.

No one was injured in either of those shootings.
