Abbotsford repeat offender charged with 5 breaches of conditions just weeks after his release

A repeat property offender who was released from custody last month wasted no time violating the conditions of his release, according to Abbotsford police.

Jaskaran Singh has been charged with five counts of breaching a release order and one count each of breaking and entering and possession of break-in instruments, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release Friday.

The 35-year-old was arrested April 16 and remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 28, according to online court records.

Singh was arrested last November for a break-in on Peardonville Road. When he was released into a different Lower Mainland community in March, he was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including “24-7 house arrest,” police said.

Despite these conditions, when patrol officers responded to a break-in in the 32600 block of Bevan Avenue on April 7, Singh was quickly identified as the suspect, according to Abbotsford police.

The department’s crime reduction unit took over the investigation and later found Singh in Abbotsford, violating his release conditions, police said.

“AbbyPD’s Crime Reduction Unit continues to play a critical role in identifying repeat offenders, enforcing court-ordered conditions, and disrupting ongoing criminal activity,” the release reads. “Their proactive approach and co-ordinated efforts remain essential to reducing property crime and enhancing community safety across Abbotsford.”
