15-year-old stabbed at B.C. grad party: RCMP

Mounties are investigating after a 15-year-old was reportedly stabbed during a large grad party in Coldstream, B.C., over the weekend.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP says it received the report around 1 a.m. Sunday, and when officers arrived at the property on Mackie Drive, the teenage victim had already been taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect drove away before police arrived, but the 18-year-old was found and arrested shortly later “without incident,” according to the detachment. The accused was released with conditions and a court date.

“From the investigation, the incident is believed to have started out as an argument between the suspect and victim,” Mounties wrote in a news release Tuesday. “It then escalated into a physical confrontation which led to the suspect allegedly stabbing the victim, who was seriously injured as a result.”
