1 dead, others injured in crash near Salmon Arm

A two-vehicle crash left one person dead and shut down Highway 1 for hours on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the accident in the settlement of Tappen north of Salmon Arm just after 12 p.m.

Officers said a commercial truck collided with a car.

Roads in the area were slick and may have contributed to the accident.

The investigation is still in the early stages and the number of injured victims is not yet known.

The highway reopened at 7 p.m.
