Mounties say one person has died after a house fire in Burnaby early Friday morning. Burnaby RCMP said officers responded to the fire on Douglas Road, near Norfolk Street, just after 4:30 a.m., along with B.C. Emergency Health Services and the Burnaby Fire Department. One person was provided emergency medical care but died at the scene, and another person was transported to hospital for treatment, police said. Police said a section of Douglas Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened. Burnaby RCMP said its Investigative Support Team is working with arson investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
