The Timmins Police Service is investigating following the discovery of human remains in the area of Hersey Lake. Police received the report Nov. 3 that someone had discovered a body in the area. “Officers remain on scene, and the immediate area has been secured as the investigation continues,” Timmins police said in a news release Nov. 4. While no details were released on how long the body had been in the area, police did say an anthropologist has been called in to help. “The Timmins Police Service, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery. A forensic anthropologist will also be assisting with the investigation,” the release said. At this time, no further details are available for release, police said. “The investigation remains ongoing and updates will be provided as additional information becomes available,” the release said.
