Toronto man facing several charges after sexual, inappropriate messaging distributed to kids at east-end park

A 45-year-old man who allegedly handed out papers containing sexual and other inappropriate messaging to kids at a busy park in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood has been arrested and is facing several charges.

On Dec. 18, Toronto police attended Withrow Park, near Danforth and Logan avenues, after receiving calls from parents regarding a suspicious incident.

‘Very concerning’

Const. Stephanie Miceli told CP24 at that time that the “very concerning” incident occurred in the late afternoon after school had ended for the day and involved several children.

Police said the suspect, whom they described as a male, standing six feet tall and 30 to 40 years old, with a thin build, and a short brown beard, fled the area.

Investigators said he was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and a black hat, and carrying a grey cross-body bag.

On Dec. 21, police issued a public safety alert, urging anyone who sees this man to contact them.

Last week, they renewed their appeal for information.

On Monday, Andrei Chiose, 45, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with nine counts each of criminal harassment and import/sell/distribute, etc. child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and one count of breach of probation. He was scheduled to appear in bail court that day.

Police are thanking the public for their help in this investigation, adding they believe there may be more victims.
