Toronto police investigating after a TTC streetcar derailed following a collision with a vehicle early Sunday morning.

Toronto police say a TTC streetcar derailed following a collision with a vehicle in downtown Toronto early Sunday morning.

Police were called to Richmond Street West and Bay Street at approximately 5:39 a.m. for reports of a crash involving a car and a streetcar.

Investigators say the impact caused the streetcar to derail. No injuries were reported.

Several road closures were put in place as crews responded. Southbound Bay Street was closed at Queen Street West, while northbound Bay Street was closed at Richmond Street West.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area and expect delays as the investigation and cleanup continued
