This is how one group of Jays fans are planning to snag a prime general admission spot to watch Game 6

When Game 5 wrapped on Wednesday night, Julian Prashad and his brother-in-law knew they had to do some serious planning for how they would secure a coveted front row, seated, general admission spot at the Rogers Centre for Game 6.

“We had this whole plan that we started working out throughout the week, after they won Game 5, that would get here super early,” Prashad told CTV News Toronto in a phone interview.

Prashad said he arrived at the ballpark at 8 a.m. and walked around the building to see if anyone had already started lining up at any of the gates.

“No one was in line yet,” he said. “So, by the time 8:30 a.m. came around, I just decided to stand in front of Gate 15.”

Prashad explained they chose that gate because you enter the stadium on the 200 level, meaning they’ll only have to run up one floor to get to their desired spot in the TD Park Social on the 500 level.

“Our goal is to get to the TD Park Social seating area, to sit in the front row seats where there’s like these four seats and a table there,” he said.

Prashad will be attending the game with his wife, Christine, his four-year-old son, Connor, and his brother-in-law Danny Young.

He waited in their front-of-the-line spot for about seven hours, until Young and his wife came to take his place.

“Even though you’re first in line, it’s first come, first serve, and after you get scanned in, you got to sprint it,” Prashad explained of what would happen when gates open around 5:30 p.m. “So, I’m taking this shift. Then my brother-in-law is going to get here. He’s like, super athletic. He plays baseball on the weekend, so he’s a sprinter. So, him and my wife will come and she’ll hold the bags, and they’ll sprint up to the very top of the stadium to the TD Park Social so we can get our seats.”

“We mapped the whole thing out. Get through the gates, go up the ramp, get out onto the 500 level, make a left, make a right at the bar, make a right down the stairs, and then grab the first table that’s available.”

Prashad said they chose that specific general admission area because they always stop there with their son during the regular season for the games and kid-friendly atmosphere.

However, they aren’t allowed to reserve more seats than bodies, so the “shift work” will continue throughout the game, with the four of them taking turns sitting in the two chairs Christine and Young will hopefully secure.

The reason only two of them will be there when gates open?

“My son is four years old, and he says, ‘But we’re still trick or treating, right?,’” Prashad explained. “So, our goal is that my wife and brother-in-law... will grab two seats, and I’ll come back to the stadium later with my son after we trick-or-treat for an hour.”

Prashad is hoping the evening turns into a “core memory” for Connor, who despite them choosing the TD Park Social for him to be close to the games and kid-friendly activities, likely won’t move from his seat.

“He’s only four, but he already knows all their names when they come up to bat,” Prashad said. “He chants for Vladdy (Guerrero Jr.), he chants for Ernie (Clement), and he pretends to swing when they swing.”

“He’s most likely going to just sit there and watch baseball. He’ll sit and watch a three-hour game eating popcorn.”
