Police warn of drug nicknamed 'Wizard, Smiles, N-Bomb' after teen is hospitalized

Police are warning about the dangers of a psychedelic drug -- sometimes known on the streets as 2-5-I, N-Bomb, Wizard, Future or Smiles -- after a young man was found “behaving erratically.”

The teen was experiencing “serious hallucinations,” according to York Regional Police, who were called to assist paramedics trying to treat a young man at Markham-Stouffville Hospital around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

The teen, 17, had to be restrained in order to receive medical attention but was eventually “stabilized,” they say.

Police believe he had taken a drug called 25I-NBOMe, which comes in a variety of forms, including cubes, liquid powder and blotted onto paper. They say the drug can sometimes be confused with LSD, and that it can lead to erratic behaviour, seizures, cardiac arrest and possibly death.

They believe the drug was purchased in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
