Highway 401 reopens more than 24 hours after 50-vehicle crash

A section of Highway 401 near Belleville reopened on Thursday morning, more than a day after a 50-vehicle crash closed a stretch of the busy road.

The eastbound lanes of the 401 were closed between County Roads 30 and 40 from 12:08 a.m. on Wednesday to 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Ontario Provincial Police said more than 50 vehicles were involved in the crash, but only four people were injured.
