10-year-old boy injured after being hit by car while riding scooter in downtown Toronto

Two boys riding e-scooters were injured in separate collisions. The moment a 10-year-old boy on scooter collided with a vehicle was captured on video.

A 10-year-old boy riding a scooter has been hit by a car downtown and is seriously injured, Toronto police say.

The collision occurred in the area of Parliament and Shuter streets, north of Queen Street East, around 5:45 p.m.

Toronto paramedics told CP24 the child was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the car remained at the scene.

They have not revealed the circumstances leading up to the collision, which are not immediately clear.

A security camera at a nearby business caught the moment the crash happened.

CP24 has reviewed the footage, which shows the scooter rider slamming into the door of a parked SUV as the driver is exiting.

As a result, the rider appears to be thrown into oncoming traffic. Passersby run to help the scooter rider.

This is the second time a child on a scooter has been hit by a vehicle.

Earlier this morning, a 12-year-old boy riding his scooter was struck near Kingston and Mason roads in Scarborough.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
