Two charged after fatal shooting near Pinehouse, Sask.

Charges have been laid following a fatal shooting near the community of Pinehouse, Sask. late last week.

A suspect has been charged following a fatal shooting near the community of Pinehouse, Sask. late last week.

On the afternoon of Oct. 3, Pinehouse RCMP received a report of a shooting just outside the community, according to a news release from the police service.

Officers responded and discovered a man suffering from serious injures at the scene. He was rushed to a local clinic where he was pronounced dead. According to the RCMP, he was identified as Braydon Natomagan, 30, from Pinehouse, Sask.

His family has been notified.

RCMP determined that an altercation took place between a group of people before a gun was fired – which injured Natomagan. Two suspects fled from the scene in a vehicle.

Following patrols of the area, officers found the vehicle travelling near Beauval – approximately 100 kilometres west of Pinehouse.

RCMP claim the suspects continued to flee after a traffic stop was attempted. However, the suspects eventually came to a stop on an off-road trail. Two people were arrested.

Christopher Nolan, 25, was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Additionally, Kelsey Iron, 31, faces a total of four charges. They include accessory after the fact to murder, flight from police, dangerous driving and refusal to comply with a breath demand.

Both Nolan and Iron are expected to make their first appearances in Meadow Lake provincial court on Monday, Oct. 6.

Pinehouse is located approximately 500 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
