Saskatoon homicide suspect makes first court appearance

WATCH: Saskatoon police are investigating two homicides over the May long weekend.

One man made his first court appearance, while police still search for another in relation to a homicide that took place over the weekend.

Twenty-seven-year-old, Tyler Pambrun made his first appearance in provincial court on Tuesday morning, he faces one count of first-degree murder.

Police responded to a call for service around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, at a motel on the 2000 block of Avenue B North.

A 20-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside the motel and was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the second suspect, 26-year-old Lawrence Opikokew.

Opikokew is described as six foot four inches tall, Indigenous, and 190 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crimestoppers.

Pambrun will remain in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for Friday.
