The Saskatoon Catholic School Board is heading into the 2026-27 school year with healthy enrollment numbers. During its second meeting of the school year, school board members heard the division had 21,666 students enrolled as of September 30 - an increase of 151 students compared to the same time last year. Elementary enrollment is down by 93 students, but the division expects that number to be made up once pre-kindergarten registrations are complete, as those registrations typically continue later into the school year. Those numbers will be reflected in schools across Saskatoon, as well as one in Humboldt. GSCS also operates schools in outlying communities such as Warman, Martensville and Biggar. Newcomers from countries including India, the Philippines and Sudan make up a significant portion of the division’s new students — something the board had anticipated heading into the school year. Luisa Giocoli Clark, Superintendent of Education, says the division is prepared to welcome the growing number of new students. “We are very prepared to create a safe, welcoming environment for these children. We’re really excited for the new schools that are projected to open. We have five schools that are currently in different phases of the planning and opening phases, so we’re excited to welcome students when those are completed also.” The Saskatoon Public School Division says its enrollment numbers will be released on October 13.
