Officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a woman wielding a knife at a Nanaimo ferry terminal Sunday afternoon, according to local Mounties. The incident was reported around 1 p.m. at the Hullo Ferry terminal on Port Drive, the Nanaimo RCMP said in a statement. “Witnesses reported the woman had been refused boarding and became agitated,” the statement from the detachment said. “Officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect a short distance away and arrested her. A knife and brass knuckles were located by police.” No one was injured but the 55-year-old woman has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer, the Nanaimo RCMP said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
