Don’t be surprised if RCMP officers look a little different the next time you see them. The familiar grey RCMP shirt is starting to give way to navy blue. RCMP say frontline officers in Saskatchewan began wearing the new uniform this month, as part of the force’s efforts to modernize its uniforms. “Members of the public should note that RCMP officers may still wear the previous grey uniform shirts for the foreseeable future, meaning they can be seen wearing either the grey or blue shirts on duty,” RCMP said. RCMP say the change in uniform colour may cause confusion, as there have been incidents involving people impersonating police officers. If you have any concerns about the identity of the police officer you are interacting with, RCMP say you can ask the officer for identification. The new shirts are part of a nationwide RCMP uniform modernization effort announced in September 2025. RCMP said they would roll out the navy blue shirts across Canada over an 18-month period, marking the first major change to RCMP uniform shirts in about 30 years.
