A 36-year-old man is facing sexual assault charges after reports coming from a campground in Kawartha Lakes. Police say they were sent to Balsam Lake Provincial Park when campers reported a man inside the campground on Monday at 8:24 p.m. It is unclear what the man was doing or what the reports were. The man, from Little Britain, which is a rural community in Kawartha Lakes, has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. In the Criminal Code, sexual interference is touching—directly or indirectly, with a body part or an object—any part of a person’s body under the age of 16 years for a sexual purpose. The investigation remains ongoing and police are asking anyone with information or footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward. The OPP says there are no concerns for public safety at this time. This article will be updated when more information becomes available.
