Saskatchewan Huskies quarterback Anton Amundrud could be back at the controls for the team’s offence this fall. Amundrud, who was diagnosed with lymphoma last fall, is now in remission, according to a post from the football team’s Instagram account. “The team is thrilled to share that quarterback Anton Amundrud has entered remission and his return to the field has begin,” the team posted online Thursday. Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s immune system. It can impact lymph nodes, the spleen and other organs that help fight infections. The fifth-year quarterback and College of Arts and Science student from Lloydminster, Alta., left the active roster after Week 5 of the 2025 season. He guided the Huskies to a 4-1 start, was the leading passer in Canada West and earned a 2025 Canada West All-Star nod before stepping away from football to focus on his health. Amundrud took over as starting quarterback in 2023 with the graduation of Mason Nyhus, who is currently the Huskies offensive co-ordinator and assistant head coach.
