A pony at a local animal sanctuary who’s been through life-changing dental surgery seems to be experiencing another bump in the road. Ralphy’s Retreat Animal Sanctuary in Wyebridge says Michael James has developed another abscess on his face. His face has been healed for more than a month and a half post-surgery, the sanctuary says, so staff were concerned. The team says it called the veterinarian who did a careful examination and X-Rays that showed his extraction sites looked to be healing well. The vet says there may have been a small amount of pus that needed to be released. Staff at Ralphy’s say while the vet is not overly concerned, she is sending the X-Rays to the surgeon for consultation, to be on the safe side. The sanctuary says the pony is on antibiotics while they flush the area and soak it with Epsom salts. Michael James received major dental surgery where he had six teeth removed earlier in the summer at King City Animal Hospital, made possible thanks to the generosity of the community. The community raised thousands of dollars to support the pony’s dental work needed for him to survive.
