Prince Albert woman dies after SUV crashes with tractor‑trailer

A 36‑year‑old Prince Albert woman has died after the SUV she was travelling in collided with a tractor‑trailer on Highway 106 Tuesday.

RCMP say the crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. Officers, local fire crews, EMS and a STARS air ambulance responded to the scene about 40 kilometres north of Smeaton.

Police say the woman, a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Her family has been notified.

Another passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries described as non‑life‑threatening. The SUV’s driver and a third passenger were taken to hospital by EMS, also with non‑life‑threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor‑trailer did not report any physical injuries.

RCMP say investigation continues with help from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstruction specialist.

The Village of Smeaton is located about 90 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert.
