A man is in hospital with serious injuries following an early-morning highway collision. Around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday police were called to a two-vehicle collision at Highway 11 and 71st Street East. One man was taken to hospital. Crews with the Saskatoon Fire Department also responded to the scene, where a person was reported to be trapped inside their vehicle with injuries. The jaws of life were used to rescue the driver of the SUV, while paramedics assessed the driver of a light duty half ton. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries. As of 9:30 a.m., traffic restrictions are in place in the east and westbound lanes of 71st Street East, and on the Idylwyld Service Road. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes and avoid the area. The Collision Analyst Unit is investigating.
