Another round of rain and wind rolled through the Edmonton area Wednesday night as a cold front pushed through. Rainfall totals were minimal (generally less than 2mm across the city), and gusts were roughly 40 to 60 across most of the region (although Villeneuve had a 71 km/h gust). We’re done with the rain for a few days in Edmonton. Clouds will linger this morning and then we’ll see some sun this afternoon. Temperatures will climb to around 20 C for an afternoon high. With clearish skies overnight...temperatures will slip into the 6 to 10 degree range across the region by Friday morning. Sunshine to start Friday will give way to overcast skies in the afternoon, but we’ll hit a high of 23 C or 24 C. The weekend precipitation outlook is still a bit uncertain. It looks likely that we’ll see SOME showers/thunderstorms. But, the timing is the big question. At this point, the most likely times for precip are Saturday evening and Sunday evening. However, I wouldn’t be shocked if there are some showers that develop earlier in the afternoon Sunday. There’s more rain in the forecast for next week. It WAS looking like a mid-week rain event, but the modelling is now hinting at Tuesday being the most likely day for some steadier and possibly heavier rain in the Edmonton area. Temperature outlook: Friday/Saturday could be two of the warmest days we get between now and mid-month. Most of the next 10 days look to be around 20 for afternoon highs.
