40 charges laid after RCMP bust drug operation in North Battleford

Saskatchewan RCMP have laid 40 charges after raiding homes and vehicles in North Battleford as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

On Oct. 25 around 5:30 a.m., North Battleford RCMP executed a search warrant in a home on 107th Street. Police say during the operation a man allegedly pointed a gun at an officer and then fled.

According to RCMP, the gun was not fired and the officer was not physically injured. The suspect was arrested shortly after, along with four men and two women.

Later that day, officers executed additional search warrants in another home on 107th Street and two vehicles on 108th Street.

Police say during the searches they seized approximately 176 grams of cocaine, three firearms, two replica firearms, a crossbow, body armour, bear spray, and various drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, Landon Gallie, 38, is charged with several offences, including assaulting a police officer, multiple firearms-related violations and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Talon Meechance, 24, also faces charges related to firearms, failing to comply with a court order and drug trafficking.

Both Gallie and Meechance appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Oct. 27.

Police say three men and two women arrested during the operation were later released without charge.
