Regina Pats rookies Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue will head into the playoff round Thursday of the 2025 World Challenge in Truro, NS. Schultz and Pue are part of the Canada White squad, which finished second in Group A after the round-robin portion of the tournament schedule. Canada White earned three points from a 1-0-1-0 record and will now play Finland, which finished third in Group B with one point from a 0-0-1-1 record. The WHL rookies, who are playing full-time this season with the Regina Pat Canadians of the Saskatchewan U18AAA Hockey League while committing to the Pats for 34 games each, are underage players for this international event. The tournament spotlights the top 2009-born players in the world and both Schultz and Pue are 2010-born players. In Canada White’s round-robin games, Pue has totalled five points from two goals and three assists while Schultz has collected four points from three goals and one assist. The tournament features two teams from Canada, Canada White and Canada Red, along with teams from Sweden, Czechia, Finland and the United States. Canada White is in Group A with Sweden and Czechia while Canada Red is in Group B with Finland and the U.S. The tournament’s championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8.
