Those in the southwest were hard at work cleaning up Monday, after a violent hailstorm descended on the city of Swift Current Sunday night. Videos submitted to CTV News show piles of hail resembling snow drifts in the city, along with heavy rain temporarily flooding streets. In a message to social media Monday afternoon, the City of Swift Current informed residents crews were working to clear debris and alleviate flooding. “As cleanup continues, residents may wish to clear leaves and debris from the storm drain in front of their property, where it is safe to do so,” the city said in its statement. In a related message, Swift Current Light & Power encouraged residents to report any issues such as branches or debris hanging on overhead power lines or outages. As of 2 p.m. Monday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) had not released any information surrounding the severe weather in Swift Current Sunday night.
